Teleguy: Pressing CTRL+F1 opens the Keyboard/Joystick mapper in Dosbox. Haven't really looked into how it works though. Haven't really looked into how it works though. Yup, that's what I did. Joystick Mapper is an application that allows you to configure your joysticks or gamepads to simulate keyboard keys/mouse movement/mouse click/mouse scroll, so you can control any app or game using them, even the ones without built-in support. A very good companion for First Person Shooters, Flash Games, Media Players, Photo Editing for example.
Sometimes, we need to run or play a game which doesn’t support our xbox 360,ps2,ps3 gamepads or our gaming joysticks on computer, or sometimes just to simplify things and game playing, as playing using the normal keyboard + mouse combo can become tedious and boring too. Just imagine using an analog control (stick) and moving it instead of using the normal combination of A,S,D,Z,W to move the object or character , and using another stick to change the view :) , sounds interesting ? isn’t it , well indeed it is! , so following are 3 best free gamepad controller softwares which will help you to easily map keyboard inputs to mouse and thus get an edge playing the game!
Software # 1 – Xpadder
Xpadder for windows

Changing Keyboard Input
DaphneLoader
DaphneLoader is the easiest way to change which keys do what in Daphne.
dapinput.ini
If you want to change Daphne's keyboard input without using DaphneLoader (which is not recommended), then you will need to either edit or create a file called dapinput.ini inside Daphne's home directory.
The format of each line the file is as follows:
The 'keysyms' refer to keyboard codes that are defined by the SDL library. The buttonID refers to buttons on a joystick where 0 means no button and 1 is the first button (at least, as far as I can remember haha). A full list of 'keysyms' can be found in the KeyList section.
An example of a dapinput.ini file is:
Thayer's Quest Input
Thayer's Quest is different from other arcade games in that it used a keyboard instead of a usual joystick and buttons.
Thayer's Quest keys cannot be changed as of the time of this writing.

F4 | Choice #4 (pentagon) / Space (NOTE : the regular spacebar on the keyboard does nothing) |
F5 | Insert Coin |
F6 | Insert Coin |
1 | Yes |
2 | Items |
3 | Drop Item |
4 | Give Score |
5 | Replay |
6 | Combine Action |
7 | Save Game (NOTE : saving games is not supported at the time of this writing) |

The rest of the keyboard is the same as it is on a Thayer's Quest keyboard, which is shown below:
Joystick
Daphne has basic support for a joystick.
Keyboard Joystick Mapping Tool
Daphne will automatically use the first installed joystick that it can detect. The direction of the joystick is fixed and cannot be changed (ie you cannot flip the up and down direction).
Mapping Keyboard Keys
You can change what the joystick buttons do. Use DaphneLoader to do this.
